We are....Relational

We Are....Relational

Introduction

Good morning, High Ridge! Are you all doing well today? Do you love Jesus today? I'm so excited to be here, and if you're new, I want to extend a warm welcome. I'd love to meet you right outside those doors, along with my beautiful wife, Monica.

Embracing God's Word

Are you ready to dive into God's word and let it transform your life? Let's start with a prayer. Father, we thank you for your church and for your word. We pray that you do whatever you want in our hearts today, so we can grow more like you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're in a series called "We Are," and last week we learned that we are worshippers. Today, we're going to learn that we are relational. Look at someone next to you and say, "I need a relationship." We are a relational church that loves people and values community. We're friendly to everyone we meet, but we want to go beyond just being friendly; we want to connect deeply.

Walking in Sync with the Spirit

Galatians 5:25 tells us to walk in sync with God's Spirit. This means moving with the Holy Spirit in every step of our lives. When we set aside our self-interests and work together, we create true community. It's like dancing in sync with a partner; when we're in sync with the Holy Spirit, we move as He leads.

True Community

God desires a relationship with us. In Genesis 2:18, He said it's not good for man to be alone. So, how do we develop true community?

  1. 1. Fellowship

  2. The early church was devoted to fellowship, which is sharing and participating in the life of Jesus together. It's about being committed to teaching, breaking bread, and praying together. We need to break down the walls we build ourselves and take steps to connect with others.
  3.
  4. 2. Slowing Down

  5. Ecclesiastes 4:6 reminds us that it's better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind. We must slow down and not get so busy that we neglect those around us.
  6.
  7. 3. Joining a Group

  8. Our groups model is ESPN: Encourage, Scripture, Prayer, and Next Steps. In groups, we support each other, share God's word, pray together, and take steps to grow in our faith. It's in these groups that we build godly relationships and deepen our connection with God.

Easter at Highridge

As we approach Easter at High Ridge, we're reminded of the ultimate expression of love and relationship. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection are the foundation of our faith and the reason we come together as a community. This Easter, let's celebrate the hope and renewal that come from our relationship with Christ and with each other.

Conclusion

Let's be a church that grows not just numerically, but relationally. Let's walk slowly with each other, taking the next step in faith, just like Peter did when he walked on water. Remember, the deepest waters are no match for the hand of God. Take His hand, and let's step out of our boats together.
