We are... Choosing Joy

We Are...Choosing Joy

Introduction

Welcome to our series titled "We Are," where we explore the core values that define us as a community of faith. Our mission is clear: we're here to invite people on a journey to know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a difference. These aren't just words; they're the very heartbeat of our church.

The Value of Joy and Fun

Today, we're diving into a value that's close to my heart: choosing joy and having fun. It's about embracing a faith that's not just a set of rules or rituals but a vibrant, joyful journey with Jesus. Christianity isn't a chore; it's a celebration of the life we've been given.

Joy vs. Happiness

First, let's clarify something: joy and happiness are not the same. Happiness is often dependent on circumstances—if things go well, we're happy. But joy? Joy is deeper. It's a choice we make regardless of our situation. It's choosing to see the goodness of God even when life is tough.

Choosing Joy in All Circumstances

How do we choose joy? It starts with a decision to see the world through the lens of faith. It's about finding the silver lining, even in the darkest clouds. It's a conviction that, no matter what life throws our way, we have a reason to smile because we have Jesus.

Fun in Serving Jesus

Serving Jesus should be fun! It's about finding joy in our journey with God and with each other. We don't want a church where service feels like a burden. Instead, we strive for a community where serving is a joy, where laughter fills the halls, and where everyone feels the warmth of God's love.

Staying Connected to the True Vine

In John 15, Jesus talks about being the true vine. We, as branches, need to stay connected to Him to bear fruit. This connection is the key to a joyful life. When we remain in Jesus, He promises to fill us with His joy—a joy that is complete and unshakable.

Bearing Fruit That Lasts

Our lives should be marked by the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These aren't traits we can produce on our own; they're the result of staying connected to Jesus. As we carry this fruit, we become a tangible expression of God's love to the world around us.

Loving Like Jesus

Jesus commands us to love each other as He has loved us. This love is sacrificial, unconditional, and life-giving. When we love like Jesus, we reflect His heart to the world. It's this love that makes our joy complete and our lives a testament to His grace.

Conclusion: An Invitation to Joyful Celebration

As we journey together, let's choose joy and embrace the fun of living for Jesus. Let's be a community marked by love, laughter, and the unmistakable joy of knowing God. And as we celebrate this Easter, let me extend a special invitation to you: join us on March 31 at 9:30 am and 11:15 am for a service that could change your life. Come and experience the joy of the resurrection and the hope it brings. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
